Celebrating The Last Dance of the Night

Save The Last Dance - For the Bride and Groom!

Save The Last Dance - For the Bride and Groom!

Have you heard of the latest new mini-event in your reception night? It’s the last dance - and it’s no longer just the last song played. Similar to your first dance as husband and wife, it’s the final dance of the night. It’s popular because it gives the bride and the groom a final moment, a final slow dance to hold each other after what has been a very long day and to relish in the first day as husband and wife coming to a close.

So what makes this different from the final song, which is typically a rousing ballad to all sing-along together with? During the “last dance,” everyone is asked to leave the dance floor (and sometimes, even the reception hall/reception area!) to let the bride and groom have their final moments together.

Dismissing the crowd can work in the bride and groom’s favor, too. If a send-off is happening, such as a sparkler exit, rice, etc. - this can be a good time to have the final dance alone and a good time to signify the end of the party.
