The ring bearer has an big job for what is often for a little guy - being the center of attention, holding those rings (and not losing them!) and delivering them safe and sound to the altar.

How to Pick a Ring Bearer

Just like the flower girl, choosing a ring bearer is a big decision. In fact, it should be considered just as important as picking the rest of your bridal party. Sometimes, the ring bearer is family, sometimes he’s the son of a bridal party member. Traditionally, a ring bearer is between 4 and 8 years old - but just like the flower girl, older or younger is fine too!

Sometimes the pick is obvious, or sometimes you want tradition. But it’s okay to be non-traditional too - perhaps you have no younger males in your life but lots of little girls - girls can be ring bearers, too! Some people even go farther by including their furry family members and having them deliver the rings (but be sure to securely attach the rings where they can’t get eaten or lost!). Too many little boys in the family? Include them all (or don’t include any of them!). The point is, you’re free to include ring bearers, traditionally or not and you’re free to go without. It’s your day!

Great Songs for The Ring Bearer to Walk Down To

In the wedding processional, it can be done a couple of different ways. Traditionally, the ring bearer walks down the aisle after the groomsmen and before the flower girl. Some weddings have the flower girl and ring bearer walk together, especially handy if one is a little older than the other and can help guide each other through their duties.
